Classic nautilus shell form with hinged lid, raised on an elaborate cast base with shell and scroll detail. Originally designed to hold hot water to keep serving spoons warm at the table. A striking example of Victorian tableware, now equally suited as a decorative accent.
Silver plate with expected light surface wear consistent with age.
