Antique Hanau silver tea strainer, also known as a “monkey spoon,” late 19th to early 20th century. Finely cast with a figural pierced bowl and ornate Rococo Revival handle. The piece bears Hanau pseudo-hallmarks, decorative marks used by German silversmiths to emulate earlier English and Continental silver. Solid silver, likely .800 standard. A charming and highly collectible example of Hanau silver.
