A rare and highly collectible 19th Century Wedgwood majolica sardine dish, beautifully modeled and richly glazed in shades of green, brown, and ochre. The domed lid features a finely detailed sardine finial, resting atop the original undertray with gently scalloped edges.
Marked Wedgwood to the base of both the box and tray. Excellent color and detail throughout with  light age-appropriate wear to the exterior of the box.  Interior with minor chips.  There is a small area of restoration to the tray.   
A true collector’s piece --perfect for the serious majolica enthusiast or anyone who appreciates the charm of 19th-century English ceramics.
