Rare early 19th-century Coalport “Thumb and Finger” Imari serving set, attributed to John Rose, circa 1810–1825. Beautifully hand-painted in rich cobalt, iron red and green with lavish gilding, the set comprises four fitted crescent-shaped dishes surrounding a central round bowl.

John Rose trained under Thomas Turner at Caughley, while Turner had earlier trained at the Worcester Porcelain Company, creating an important connection between the traditions of Worcester, Caughley and early Coalport.

A rare and beautifully preserved example of early 19th-century English porcelain.

Condition: Presents beautifully overall with expected age wear. Some minor chips, a hairline, and evidence of an old professional restoration to one side dish, all stable and unobtrusive when displayed.
