A charming pair of 19th-century landscape oil paintings acquired in France, each depicting a tranquil countryside scene with cottages, figures, water, and distant hills. One painting is signed and dated Robert, 1861, while the companion painting complements the composition beautifully, creating a wonderfully balanced decorative pair.
The paintings are presented in carved and gold-painted period frames with floral corner ornamentation.. Their warm palette, pastoral subjects, and pleasing scale make them equally at home in traditional, French-inspired, English Country, or collected interiors.
